Registration Open For 10th Annual Summer Physics Camp June 9-19

NEW MEXICO CONSORTIUM NEWS RELEASE

The 10th Annual Summer Physics Camp June 9-19 invites young students to dive into the exciting world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) through hands-on experiences and real-world exploration. Participants will learn alongside leading STEM professionals—including scientists and engineers from Sandia National Laboratories and Los Alamos National Laboratory —while discovering, creating, and innovating in the inspiring setting of the New Mexico School for the Arts in Santa Fe.

Participants will explore physics, engineering, bioengineering, chemistry, computer programming, and cybersecurity through dynamic, hands-on projects that ignite curiosity, creativity, and real-world problem-solving. Beyond the science, students will build essential professional skills, including how to write a resume and how to apply and interview for a job. Participants will also explore educational and career pathways at local colleges and U.S. Department of Energy national laboratories, such as Sandia National Laboratories and Los Alamos National Laboratory.

This year’s camp explores Invisible Worlds: Physics Beyond What Our Eyes Can See. Most of the universe is hidden from view—not because it isn’t real, but because our senses have limits. From electricity and gravitational waves to the quantum realm and the microscopic machinery of life, these unseen forces power our technology, shape our bodies, and drive the world around us.

Join us as we shed light on these unseen forces through fun, hands-on activities designed to help you explore, understand, and experience the invisible world around you.

Eligibility

·       Must be a student living in New Mexico, New Mexico Tribal Communities, or East Hawai‘i Island

·       Must have completed Algebra I or a higher-level math course

·       Must be able to commit to full participation for two weeks (Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.)

🚀 Curious? Love learning? Ready for a challenge?

We’d love for you to apply! Acceptance to the camp is not based on GPA, but on how this experience can help shape your future. All students are welcome to apply, and one of our goals is to engage those who may not normally see themselves as future scientists.

💥 Totally FREE to attend!

Lunch and snacks are provided every day. Students who complete the program will earn a $350 stipend and have the opportunity to join the national SAGE Journey program—a community that sparks creativity, innovation, and future leadership in science and technology.

🏠 A limited number of FREE residential spots are available for selected students who live more than 60 miles from Santa Fe and are unable to commute daily.

Application deadline: 5pm Tuesday, April 1, 2026
