LAAC NEWS RELEASE
The Los Alamos Arts Council is staying busy this February! Our small but mighty team is up to everything from concerts to adult and youth classes (including the return of afterschool art) to getting ready for our 30th Annual Kite Festival. Here’s a snapshot of what we have coming up, and remember you can always find updated events on our website: www.LosAlamosArtsCouncil.org/Events-2-1

- After school art studios have returned: After School Art Studios are a fun, low-pressure way to get kids’ creative energy flowing. Supported by a grant from the Los Alamos Community Foundation and Anchorum Community Health, these studios let kids and teens explore their own interests with guidance from our Studio Coordinator, Hannah R. They can bring their own projects, use our supplies, or show up with an idea and get support from staff and peers. We are also now offering ‘punch cards’ (available in sets of 3, 6, or 10) for ease of signing up. For more and to sign up, check out our website: https://www.losalamosartscouncil.org/youth-programs
- Adult art education continues: We continue to offer art classes and studio space for adults, featuring classes on sewing, ceramics (both wheel and handbuilding,) figure painting, and book binding. For more and to sign up, check out our website: https://www.losalamosartscouncil.org/adulteducation
- Concerts in February: We have two concerts coming up this month! On Feb. 11 (Wednesday) from 12-1 PM folk artist Jubal will perform in Fuller Lodge. This concert is free and open to the public. On February 13th, local favorites Tjett Gerdom and Jennifer Perez with accompanists will perform a mixture of opera and contemporary hits to celebrate Valentine’s Day. For more info and for tickets, check out our website: https://www.losalamosartscouncil.org/events-2-1/love-sucks-concert-ft-tjett-gerdom-jennifer-perez
- Preorder a Kite Festival Shirt: Every year LAAC gives away hundreds of T-shirts to local youth who build and fly kites with us at Overlook Park. This year, we won’t be able to order as many shirts as we have in the past. We will still have over 100 free shirts on site, but to guarantee your kiddo gets a shirt in their size, we are offering pre-orders to help us offset material and labor costs this year. To find out more and preorder, check out our website: https://www.losalamosartscouncil.org/kite-festival-26
- Work with the Arts Council: We are still hiring for part time weekend gallery help! If you are interested in working in the arts, check out our page here for openings: www.LosAlamosArtsCouncil.org/careers
- Just want to meet fellow artists? Come on down to Bathtub Row Brewing Coop on Sunday, February 15th from 4-5 PM for community favorite Crafts & Drafts. Bring your own art supplies, or we will have a tub of crafts. Free and open to the public (over 21.)
We hope to see you soon!
