County: Work On Camp May Road To Be Paused Jan. 26-29

COUNTY NEWS RELEASE

Los Alamos County’s contractor for the Jemez Mountain Fire Protection Project, DUB-L-EE, will conduct construction cleanup activities on Camp May Road beginning Monday, January 26, and continuing until complete, which should be no later than Thursday, January 29. The road will be closed during this period and barricades will be removed once cleanup is complete.

Work on the JMFPP began last April and with unseasonably warm temperatures, the winter pause that was originally scheduled for December 1 is just about to begin. The pause is expected to last at least a month. This project includes installation of waterlines and conduit for electric and fiber lines up to Pajarito Mountain.

The cleanup closure is scheduled after the weekend so that skiers and snowboarders can take the opportunity to hit the slopes at Pajarito Mountain when it is open for business. Pajarito’s website reports it will be open Friday through Sunday.

Because JMFPP activity has continued longer than expected, you’re encouraged to check the Cone Zone on the County website (lacnm.com/conezone) before heading up. The Cone Zone is updated regularly and lists planned traffic impacts within Los Alamos County.
