Trial Lawyers Launch New Podcast To Demystify New Mexico’s Legal System

NMTLA NEWS RELEASE

The New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association Foundation  is launching a new podcast designed to help everyday New Mexicans better understand how the law impacts their lives. The first one will be live Friday, Jan. 16.

New Mexico Legal Lowdown is an interactive, conversational podcast hosted by New Mexico attorney Feliz Rael, featuring trial lawyers who work on the front lines of protecting constitutional rights and holding powerful interests accountable — from big corporations and insurance companies to government agencies.

“Every New Mexican deserves to understand how the law works for them — or why it sometimes doesn’t,” Rael said. “This podcast strips away the legal jargon and focuses on real stories: the lawyers, the people they represent, and the fights that shape justice in our state.”

The podcast also seeks to address common misconceptions about trial lawyers and their role in the justice system.

The debut episode, released Friday, features Brian Colón, former New Mexico State Auditor and current Managing Partner at Singleton Schreiber, who discusses accountability, public service, and the evolving role of trial lawyers in protecting the public interest.

Mr. Colon stated “This podcast takes the mystery out of who trial lawyers are and what we do, which is fight for the New Mexican who has been harmed by a large corporation, an insurance company, or a government entity. Throughout the history of this country, trial lawyers have fought for civil rights, voting rights and today we are fighting to protect our nation’s democracy.”

New episodes of New Mexico Legal Lowdown will spotlight legal issues that affect New Mexicans every day, offering listeners clear explanations, candid conversations, and insight into the legal battles shaping the state.
