COUNTY NEWS RELEASE
Mesa Public Library is hosting a art show featuring pastel art through November 18, 2025. In addition to this special art show, the Pastel Society of New Mexico’s Nicholas Tesluk will give a talk on the history of visual art with pastels at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, followed by a live demonstration and discussion by Letitia Roller at 2:00 p.m.
The Pastel Society of New Mexico is bringing a collection of their members’ works to the community of Los Alamos to share this vibrant and flexible medium. Artists from around the state will be participating with their pieces hanging in Mesa Public Library, including Los Alamos’ own Rachel Pearson whose works in fine art have garnered awards and a following throughout the state.
Nicholas Tesluk’s presentation, “The Magic of Pastel” on November 2 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., will share the details of how artists originally created their own pastels using a variety of pigments. He will detail the many examples of pastel work by great artists from the 18th century through today’s renaissance of the medium.
Letitia Roller will follow Tesluk’s presentation with a live art demonstration. She will take questions and share her expertise from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Her work often centers around capturing the skies and clouds of our beautiful New Mexico landscape.
The hanging works from artists of the Pastel Society of New Mexico will remain available for the community to view until Tuesday, November 18. The variety and number of artists included in the program will bring art lovers and enthusiasts from around the region.
All programs at the library are free and open to the public. Visit LosAlamosLibrary.org or visit us in person to find more details on all our programs like the monthly Tabletop Game Day, Writer’s Group, or our special teen programs.
