STEP UP GALLERY NEWS RELEASE

Vote for your favorite Self Portrait by 5:00p.m. on Friday, October 17! “Projection and Confession: Self-Portraits” currently showing in Step Up Gallery at Mesa Public Library closes on Saturday, October 18 after the Awards Reception (2:00 – 3:30 p.m.). The exhibit displays nearly 50 self-portraits of local and regional artists, many of which were created just for this show over the last 4 months.

Visitors to the gallery are asked to vote for the self-portrait they like best after viewing the show. Voting closes at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17. In lieu of an opening reception, we will have a closing reception on the last day of the exhibit, Saturday, October 18 from 2: 00- 3:30 p.m. At that time, votes will be tallied and prizes given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place as People’s Choice Awards. The public is invited to attend the reception and refreshments will be served.

As of last Friday, October 10, more than150 votes have already been cast. Come visit the gallery this week and vote for your favorite self-portrait!

The next exhibit at Step Up Gallery will be “The Way of Art: Veterans Create.” The exhibit of New Mexico Veterans’ Art will run from October 30 through November 28. From serving their country to finding beauty in the world, members of New Mexico Veterans Art, a 501 c-3, will share a wide variety of thoughtful artwork. The opening reception will be Saturday, November 1 from 2-4 p.m. The public is welcome.

Step Up Gallery (https://stepupgallery.org) is on the top level of Mesa Public Library in Los Alamos at 2400 Central Ave. The gallery is open during regular library hours: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. There is no fee for entry.
