Attendees at Thursday’s Los Alamos County Emergency Management National Preparedness Month event at SALA Event Center had the opportunity to visit booths hosted by the County, as well as local partners such as LANL Emergency Management. Each entity provided information and resources to help residents of all ages prepare for emergencies and learn about preparedness efforts already underway in the region. Staff from the Los Alamos National Laboratory Emergency Management Division were among those who provided resources (and candy) to attendees at Thursday’s event. Annual LANL preparedness activities include: 300+ evacuation and shelter in place drills for workers; 20+ emergency drills at high-hazard facilities; a minimum of one Site-Level Full-Scale Exercise with local and external response agency partners; facility-wide briefings and trainings for workers and first responders.
