Dialogue On Palestine And Israel Sept. 9, 10, & 11 At SALA Event Center

This coming week is a chance for Los Alamos residents to engage with diverse voices. As part of the Free Palestine Summer Series, three speakers offer perspectives on justice, peacebuilding, and life in Israel/Palestine. These talks bring together perspectives of history, personal experience, and grassroots education  It’s an opportunity for dialogue on Israel/Palestine at a time when it’s needed in our country.

Each lecture will begin at 7 p.m. at SALA, with the Promised Land Museum open beforehand from 5–7 p.m.so attendees can experience the exhibit prior to the talks.

  • Tuesday, Sept. 9 – Dr. Steve Feldman, author of Bent Toward Justice and founder of the Promised Land Museum, will share how his perspective as a Jewish-American physician and Holocaust descendant shaped his understanding of the Palestinian struggle.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 10 – Dr. Yousef Aljamal, a Palestinian refugee from Gaza and Gaza Coordinator with the American Friends Service Committee (Quakers), Dr. Aljamal will offer his lived experience of occupation and displacement, weaving together family stories and reflections on resilience.
  • Thursday, Sept. 11 – Lee Gordon, Co-founder of Hand in Hand, Israel’s pioneering network of Jewish-Arab integrated schools. Gordon will speak on the philosophy of shared education and how schools can serve as models for coexistence. The museum and speaker series are free and open to the public. 

The Promised Land Museum is also available for free viewing Sept. 6 & 7 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Sage Street in Los Alamos.
