COUNTY NEWS RELEASE

In celebration of National Preparedness Month, Los Alamos County Emergency Management invites the community to a special event focused on emergency preparedness. The event will be held on September 18 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the SALA Event Center in Los Alamos. This free, family-friendly event is a great way for the community to learn how to prepare for emergencies in a relaxed and engaging environment.

Attendees will have the opportunity to visit booths hosted by the County, as well as local partners such as LANL Emergency Management and surrounding jurisdictions. Exhibits will provide valuable information and resources to help residents better prepare for emergencies and to showcase the preparedness efforts underway in the region.

In addition to the preparedness exhibits, one theater will feature a screening of the movie Twisters, a thrilling, disaster-themed film perfect for National Preparedness Month. Admission to the movie will be first-come, first-served for the first 100 people.  While the event starts at 6 p.m. the movie will begin at 7 p.m. Light refreshments such as popcorn and soda will be provided to event attendees.
