Congratulations to the LAFRW ladies for a successful Sunflower Tea event!. Our bi-monthly Central Committee meeting will be on June 19, 6 pm at Open Door Bible Ministry (2101 Trinity Drive). We will hear from Eric Stromberg, who serves on the Los Alamos Board of Utilities.
I applaud President Trump’s “One, Big, Beautiful Bill”! As a small business owner, I am most concerned about economic issues. This legislation would increase and make permanent the Qualified Business Income deduction and significantly expand the Section 179 deduction. American citizens would benefit from the largest tax cut in U.S. history. There will be lower Social Security taxes for seniors, up to $13,300 tax savings for middle-class families, and no tax on tips or overtime. Expect major wage increases up to $11,600 for American workers, permanent border security measures, pay raises and improved benefits for our troops, and Employer tax credits for voluntary, paid family and medical leave benefits.
A brief response to Archbishop Wester’s criticism that the ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ betrays the poor. ( https://losalamosreporter.com/2025/06/08/archbishop-wester-trumps-big-beautiful-bill-betrays-the-poor-the-church-must-oppose-it/) Let me just say that free market enterprise has lifted billions out of poverty. Economic growth, innovation, and entrepreneurship give people in every income bracket, greater access to advanced technologies and services. When Americans prosper, there are more opportunities for voluntary, charitable giving and the poorest among us benefit the most. Christians should support Trump’s legislation for its pro-life measures as well as work requirements for the able-bodied to receive taxpayer-funded benefits. Read 2 Thessalonians 3:10.
America has been exceptionally generous when it comes to immigration. Countless ethnic minorities like myself have been able to flourish and succeed. So I question whether disobedience to the rule of law with immigration is consistent with Christian teaching. Read Romans 13.
I was deeply honored to be invited to the White House for a special Asian American and Pacific Islander reception. It was a wonderful occasion to commemorate the enduring legacy and vibrant future of AAPI Americans. It was a joy to meet Asian-Americans who support President Trump and his America First agenda. President Trump’s executive order on April 23, 2025 declared that “A bedrock principle of the United States is that all citizens are treated equally under the law. This principle guarantees equality of opportunity, not equal outcomes. It promises that people are treated as individuals, not components of a particular race or group. It encourages meritocracy and a colorblind society, not race- or sex-based favoritism. Adherence to this principle is essential to creating opportunity, encouraging achievement, and sustaining the American Dream.”
