COUNTY NEWS RELEASE
Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) staff are looking forward to ChamberFest where they will be challenging the public to find natural gas mascot Toasty wearing a red-and-white striped Waldo cap somewhere in the Los Alamos Now app this weekend.
The Los Alamos Now app has a host of handy features for folks in Los Alamos County, like traffic cameras, a crime tip button, utility usage and payment links, and buttons to report issues around town. To encourage more usage of it, DPU worked with the Los Alamos County Information Management team to set up the Where’s Toastaldo challenge for ChamberFest weekend.
Those lucky people who find Toastaldo will be able to enter a drawing for a black T-shirt featuring DPU’s emoji mascots or a pair of socks featuring Blinky, the electricity mascot. DPU staff will be at ChamberFest on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. encouraging those who pass by to download the app, find Toastaldo, and enter the drawing.
Additionally, DPU will have retired hard hats on hand for the kids who are heading to the ChamberFest sandpile (while supplies last). Hard hats were picked up quickly at the 2024 ChamberFest so keep that in mind if bringing children who might want one.
Lastly, don’t forget your water bottles! Saturday promises to be a beautiful day and it’s important to hydrate. DPU’s tent will include a hydration station for anyone needing a water refill. DPU’s tent will be in front of the United States Post Office.
