The Los Alamos Community Foundation (LACF), in partnership with Anchorum Health Foundation and Christus St. Vincent, is excited to announce a distribution of $52,750 to five nonprofit organizations addressing the needs of health and wellness in our community, with an emphasis on mental health. These grants were made possible through the Anchorum Health Foundation in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
“We are extremely excited and grateful to be partnering with Anchorum Health Foundation to bring support to our local nonprofits and aid in the ability to help Los Alamos become an even better place,” said Brandi Weiss Program Manager and Anchorum Fellow for the LACF.
The 2025 awarded organizations and grant purposes are:
● Los Alamos Family Council –$10,000 to sustain mental health counseling services for at-risk individuals, especially those facing financial hardship. The grant helps offset local cost-of-living pressures and enables continued support for low-income residents.
● Los Alamos Juvenile Justice Advisory Board (JJAB) –$5,000 to expand Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) training for adults who work with youth, focusing on early intervention in mental health and substance use crises.
● Family Strengths Network – $5,000 to establish a monthly support group for women experiencing separation or divorce, fostering community connection, and mental well- being.
● First Born Program of Los Alamos County – $7,000 to provide essential baby supplies and nutrition education for financially vulnerable families.
● Los Alamos Community Foundation – $25,750 to help launch a community-wide mental health training initiative aiming to train 1,000 residents in suicide prevention over the next year. Funding awarded is for two years.
“We deeply value how Los Alamos Community Foundation has engaged in listening and conversation to identify mental health as a community priority,” said Jerry Jones, President and CEO of Anchorum. “This kind of locally informed decision making reflects the deep knowledge and trust that LACF has built within the community.”
These grants, made through the Anchorum Community Health Fund at LACF, represent a powerful investment in collaborative solutions to address the region’s growing health and wellness support needs. The grants align with Anchorum Health Foundation’s commitment to supporting innovative, collaborative solutions that promote well-being across northern New Mexico.
