LACF NEWS RELEASE
It took less than 30 days for donors to contribute enough funds to open an endowment for Self Help Inc of northern New Mexico! “Los Alamos donors are knowledgeable and donation savvy.
“It is clear that our community values Self Help and trusts the organization to continue serving New Mexico for a very long time,” explains Liz Martineau, Executive Director for Los Alamos Community Foundation.
Self Help Inc, has been helping those in northern New Mexico for more than 55 years. The concept of Self Help originated from a caring, compassionate dynamo named Joyce Pyburn in 1969. She cared deeply about the people living in pockets of poverty in northern New Mexico. She strongly believed that a plan of “helping people to help themselves” could be developed.
It has proven to be a valuable resource helping hundreds of northern New Mexicans — in Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Santa Fe, and Taos Counties– who experience any type of setback, such as a sudden loss of income or change in housing or health status. This endowment fund will provide support to Self Help in perpetuity. It is a great way for your donation to make a difference for many, many years.
Does your personal legacy include helping others? Now that this endowment fund is open, please consider leaving a part of your estate to the Los Alamos Community Foundation Endowment designated for Self Help. No matter how you choose to give, thank you for making a difference and giving hope to our community.
