LOS ALAMOS ARTS COUNCIL NEWS RELEASE

The Los Alamos Arts Council is gearing up for an action-packed spring filled with events!

April 4 brought together 35 New Mexican artists for the grand opening of “Art and Nature” at the Fuller Lodge Art Center. Celebrating Pajarito Environmental Education Center’s 25th anniversary and highlighting everything nature, the show runs through May 16. While you’re visiting the exhibit be sure to visit Donna Foley’s standalone exhibit, “Mountain and Desert Meditations” in our portal through May 2.

National Theater Live at SALA returns on April 17 as part of a year-long sponsorship by the Arts Council. This month brings Fleabag featuring Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s one actor play to the cinema screen. Discounted tickets are available for this show using code:  and of course, SALA members get in free!

Kite Festival returns for its 29th year on April 26 and 27. Come build and fly kites with us at Overlook Park. Thanks to Enterprise Bank and Trust for sponsoring the Kite Festival for all 29 years and thanks to our year round sponsor, Los Alamos Mainstreet and Creative District for their consistent support of this event.

Big News from the Arts Council about a brand new event! May 10 and 11 we are proud to announce the launch of  our pilot program the Pajarito Literary Festival! Brought together by the efforts of the Los Alamos Arts Council and Samizdat Bookstore and Teahouse, and sponsored in part by a grant from the New Mexico Creative Industries, Saturday and Sunday will boast activities including author engagements from eleven authors from around the globe! Weekend passes are on sale now and VIPs will have access to extra events throughout the weekend ranging from beer tastings at Bathtub Row Brewing Cooperative and tea tastings at Samizdat.

This event coincides with our annual Spring Craft Fair which will bring in over 100 vendors to the Fuller Lodge Lawn Saturday May 10, 9AM-3PM. As always this event is free to the public and is just in time for Mother’s Day weekend!
