MAP OF COUNTY NEWS RELEASE
Standby electric linemen from the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities responded Monday evening to a power outage on Barranca Mesa that impacted about 585 households.
Power was restored for all customers around 8:45 p.m.
The outage was caused by an underground fault on Los Pueblos. When the fault occurred, a breaker simultaneously malfunctioned, causing the outage to impact not only the Los Pueblos area, but the rest of Barranca Mesa as well.
DPU has crews on standby 24/7 for electric, natural gas, and water disruptions. In the event of a power outage, customers are asked to call (505) 662-8333 during business hours or (505) 662-8222 after hours during the first few minutes of the outage.
Once those notifications have been received, DPU is able to determine the extent of the outage through a meter monitoring platform.
