COUNTY NEWS
Los Alamos County will host the second of two open houses to allow the community to learn about capital improvement projects (CIP) under development and recently completed, along with other active projects in the community included in the projected Fiscal Year 2026 budget. Residents are encouraged to drop in between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. and engage with County staff on Monday, March 17 at the Municipal Building, Council Chambers (1000 Central Ave., Los Alamos).
The meeting will address infrastructure, road, facility, and sustainability projects.
Featured projects include:
Infrastructure improvement projects, including the Golf Course improvements, Ice Rink Shade Structure, Manhattan Project Dormitory, waterline replacement and fiber installation along NM4, Jemez Mountain Fire Protection project, and the new Fire Station 4.
The Community Broadband Network, an initiative to provide fiber-to-the-premises for reliable, high-speed internet access to every residence and business that opts in.
Facility maintenance projects and small capital projects, such as Betty Ehart Senior Center improvements, White Rock Visitor Center Shuttle Stop, recreation and park enhancements, and library upgrades.
In addition, the County’s Sustainability Manager will be available to provide updates on efforts to implement the adopted Climate Action Plan and installation of the new Electric Vehicle Charging Stations throughout the community.
