LOS LUCEROS NEWS RELEASE

Los Luceros Historic Site is offering a Ranger Walk ‘N Talk program on Wednesdays and Sundays guiding visitors through the site’s historic district this spring.

Visitors can join Interpretive Ranger Kara on a guided ranger tour through Los Luceros’ historic district this March and April to learn about the site and its buildings, including the Victorian Cottage, the plans for which were purchased from a catalogue by an early owner Abel Lucero near the beginning of the 20th century. They will also visit the 19th century capilla, or chapel, which houses fantastic religious artwork by santera Clare Cresap Villa and learn about other interesting characters from the past who lived and worked on the property. The tour is included with admission of $7/adults and free to NM seniors and children 16 and younger. Note: The Hacienda is currently closed due to restoration, so the tour will not go inside the building.

Dates for the tours are Wednesdays, March 5, 12, 19, & 26, and April 2, 9, & 16, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.; Sundays, April 13 & 20, 10:30 – 11 a.m.

Los Luceros Historic Site is located at 253 County Rd 41, Alcalde, NM 87511

These tours offer more information about the historic buildings at the site, as well as a closer look at the people who once lived there, including the Lucero family, Mary Cabot Wheelright, Maria Chabot, and more.
