UNM-Los Alamos (UNM-LA) is offering certificate programs to members of the community including a Python Programming Certificate, a Broadband-5G Certificate, IT and Cybersecurity Certificates, an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certificate and an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate. Scholarships for all certificates are available for a limited time.
The Python Programming Certificate is a 12-week online program from Jan. 26-April 19 on Fridays from 12-3:20 p.m. Python is one of the most versatile and widely used programming languages in the world. The course will provide students with a solid understanding of Python and its libraries, as well as the ability to apply it to real-world problems and help you advance in your career.
The next three-semester Broadband-5G Certificate program starts spring 2025 and includes courses in algebra, trigonometry, circuit analysis, physics and hands-on learning labs, along with specialized modules on wireless communication systems. With a stackable certificate, stackable skills, college credit and work experience, the UNM-LA Broadband-5G Certificate program is your key to a rewarding career in telecommunications.
Network+, part of the IT Certificate program, takes place Jan. 13-Feb. 22 online, Monday- Thursday from 6:30-9 p.m. The other class, A+, is self-paced. Students will develop the knowledge and skills required to design, troubleshoot and implement functional networks on the job.
The PenTest+, part of the Cybersecurity Certificate program, is online from March 3-April 12, Monday-Thursday from 6:30-9 p.m. The Sec+, another class in the program, happens
simultaneously but from Wednesday-Saturday from 3:30-6 p.m. The CySA+ and CASP+ class times are to be determined. With the ever-increasing threat of cybercrime, cybersecurity is one
of the most in-demand global career fields today.
The ECE Certificate program is free to community members for a limited time with the support of Los Alamos National Laboratory and the Regional Development Corporation. The ECE,
developed in partnership with the Bilingual Montessori in Los Alamos, is a 14-week online program starting on Feb. 10., Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 5:30-8:30 p.m. A stackable certificate, the program provides teacher educators and educational leaders the tools and hands-on experience to develop school programs. Are you ready to make a difference and save lives? Become an EMT in just one semester in a supportive and hands-on learning environment. UNM-LA offers an EMT program that prepares you for a career on the frontlines of healthcare and public safety. You will gain the skills and certification needed to work in emergency response, healthcare and beyond. Join the ranks of heroes with essential life-saving techniques and emergency medical skills from experienced instructors.
