DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE NEWS RELEASE
The New Mexico Department of Justice Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples (MMIP) Task Force hosted a holiday celebration on Thursday evening at the American Legion Post 13 for families impacted by the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples crisis. The event offered an opportunity to bring impacted families together to celebrate the holiday season and remember loved ones.
The evening included food, gifts and the opportunity for attendees and Task Force members to interact as this season can be difficult for those affected by the MMIP crisis.
“It was a truly impactful experience to have families join us for our holiday gathering,” said MMIP Task Force Chairwoman Stephanie Padilla. “We are so grateful to those families that were able to join us and share their experiences with Task Force members in a different environment. We look forward to continuing discussions with survivors and family members during and outside of Task Force meetings.”
