Curious about one of the universe’s greatest mysteries? Join the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) at the Los Alamos Nature Center planetarium on Friday, Dec, 13, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM for an intriguing presentation titled ‘Dark Matter?’.

Astrophysicist Galen Gisler will explore the decades-long search for dark matter and whether the scientific community has made any breakthroughs since it was first hinted at nearly 90 years ago. Despite decades of research, including costly and extensive searches for the elusive particles believed to constitute dark matter, no direct detections have been made. Gisler will also discuss the growing voices among astrophysicists who propose alternative theories and what this means for the future of cosmic understanding.

Galen Gisler, PhD, a Los Alamos resident, earned his doctorate in astrophysics from the University of Cambridge. He worked for 25 years at Los Alamos National Laboratory before moving to Norway, where he expanded his expertise with geology studies at the University of Oslo. Now retired back in Los Alamos, Gisler continues to share his passion for the universe at the PEEC planetarium.

Don’t miss this thought-provoking talk on one of science’s biggest puzzles! Admission is $8 for adults and $6 for children. Events in the planetarium are not recommended for children under age 4.
