Registration is now open for the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC)’s
Winter & Spring 2025 Forest Explorers, an exciting opportunity for kids to connect with
nature, explore the great outdoors, and develop a deeper understanding of the natural
world.

Designed for children currently in grades 1–6, Forest Explorers is a 2.5-hour drop-off
program held on Wednesdays from 3:00 to 5:30 PM, starting January 8 through April
30, 2025 (16 sessions in total; no meeting on March 19). Each session is led by PEEC’s
experienced environmental educators and takes place around the beautiful canyons
and forests near Los Alamos Nature Center.

This program offers children a chance to explore the outdoors through self-directed
activities like fort building, investigating creeks, and observing plants and animals up
close. Weekly themes will guide the exploration, encouraging cooperative play,
environmental awareness, and a sense of comfort in natural spaces—all with an
emphasis on place-based learning.

Program Highlights:
● When: Wednesdays, 3:00–5:30 PM (January 8–April 30, 2025; no meeting on
March 19)
● Where: Drop off and pick up at Los Alamos Nature Center
● Who: Open to children currently in grades 1-3 or 4–6
● Cost: $275/non-member; $240/PEEC member

Participants should come prepared to spend the entire time outdoors in all weather
conditions, including rain, snow, and sunshine. A backpack with a water bottle, snack,
and weather-appropriate clothing is required (detailed instructions will be sent to
parents). This is a screen-free program, so phones and other devices should stay at
home, ensuring participants are fully immersed in their outdoor experience.

Space is limited to 15 participants per age group, so don’t wait to secure your child’s
spot in this popular program! Families interested in registering for a single month can
contact Kristen at kristen@peecnature.org for more details.
Give your child the gift of exploration, curiosity, and connection with the natural world.
Sign up for Forest Explorers today and watch them thrive in the great outdoors!
