Los Alamos Parks & Recreation Board Seeks New Members

The Los Alamos Golf Course doubles as a cross-country ski area in the winter, increasing its impact to the community. Determining the community’s recreational needs and submitting recommendations are some of the goals of the Parks & Recreation Board. Courtesy photo

Do you like to recreate in Los Alamos? Do you want to help shape the future of our recreational developments? Ensure our open spaces are managed well for generations to come? Advocate for equitable access to all of our facilities? Then apply to become a member of the Parks & Recreation Board! We have four members whose terms are expiring after November’s meeting, which means we might not have enough members to hold meetings. This lack of quorum could delay decisions on new recreational projects and the maintenance of existing ones.

As a member for the past 2 years, it has been such a fulfilling experience to work with a board and staff so passionate about an issue the entire community cares about: high-quality recreation for everyone. The commitment is just one Thursday evening a month and some light homework. See Chapter 8 of the County Code for more information about our purpose. Please consider applying and if you’d like to come to one of our meetings to see what it’s like, the next meeting is November 14 at 5:30 at the Los Alamos County Municipal Building, 1000 Central Avenue.
