SALA Event Center will present an extraordinary evening of music, film, and storytelling on Nov. 3, featuring three-time Grammy Award-winning artist Bill Miller and a special screening of the acclaimed documentary Genizaro Experience with director and producer Gary Medina Cook. This exclusive event promises a captivating exploration of Native American history, culture and artistry.
Genizaro Experience is a powerful documentary directed by Gary Medina Cook, shedding light on the history of the Genizaro people – descendants of Native Americans who were enslaved by Spanish colonists and later integrated into New Mexico society. This film brings to the forefront a lesser-known yet crucial chapter in the history of the American Southwest, highlighting the resilience and cultural identity of the Genizaros. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to meet Gary Medina Cook, who will introduce the film and provide personal insights into the making of this impactful documentary.
After the film screening, attendees will be treated to an intimate live performance by Bill Miller, a celebrated Native American musician, painter, and storyteller.
