LTE: Ryn Herrmann Gets Things Done

BY PATRICK SULLIVAN
Los Alamos

As a 22-year resident of Los Alamos, I’ve seen many candidates run for and sit on County
Council and I can’t think of a more qualified candidate than Ryn Herrmann. I’ve known Ryn
for 10 years and was a co-worker of hers for 7 years. I’ve seen her immerse herself in our
community as an advocate for local business, a volunteer, and a leader.

Her dedication during the Pandemic to supporting our local businesses was inspiring. As
the former Chamber of Commerce Director, she made it a point to engage as many
businesses as possible and to advocate at the local and state level.

Ryn’s been involved in our community for much longer than her time as Chamber Director.
She’s raised 3 children here, been involved in Girl Scouts, supported our school system,
advocated for UNM-LA and volunteered at countless events for several organizations. I
know Ryn is deeply concerned about our youth and their social emotional well-being as
well as ensuring we have proper resources to serve our elderly population.

These experiences give Ryn a unique perspective of the challenges we face in Los Alamos.
She understands how the lack of housing options affects potential residents, current
residents and local businesses. She knows the importance of balancing growth from our
largest employer with maintaining the safe, healthy, tight knit community that we all love.
Ryn knows how to work with County staff to move initiatives forward. This includes asking
tough questions, requiring answers, and making decisions in a timely fashion. Often, we
are burdened with constant deliberation and discussion over issues that should be easy to
decide and move forward on, yet we seem to overanalyze and overthink everything. Ryn
gets things done.

I am happy to support Ryn for County Council and encourage all Los Alamos residents who
want a true community champion to vote for Ryn Herrmann.
