County: On 10/10 At 10, Celebrate Customer Service That’s A 10

COUNTY NEWS RELEASE

In appreciation for their customers and in observance of national Customer Service Week, the staff of the Los Alamos County Customer Care Center will host their annual customer service fair on Thursday, October 10. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon in the lobby of the Los Alamos County Municipal Building at 1000 Central Ave.

The public is invited to stop by for refreshments and a variety of giveaways and information on projects, programs and services from various county departments. To recognize the importance of customer service and the people who serve and support customers every day, the U.S. Congress proclaimed in 1992 that Customer Service Week be a national event.  It is celebrated annually during the first week in October.

Representatives of the Los Alamos County’s Customer Care Center accepted a proclamation denoting the special week from the County Council at the Los Alamos County Council meeting on Tuesday, September 24.

Coinciding with Customer Service Week, national Public Power Week is also on the calendar for the first full week of October every year. The Department of Public Utilities (DPU) is a community-owned utility and a member of the American Public Power Association. At the customer service fair, DPU will pop popcorn to promote induction-ready poppers, DPU’s latest loaner item in conjunction with its Induction Cooktop Loaner Program. Most traditional stovetop poppers are aluminum and won’t pop on induction services poppers which require magnetic pots and pans. DPU is expanding its audience of induction users to promote safe and fast cooking, whether for a movie night, an afternoon of gaming, or a morning of socializing (no judgement, popcorn enthusiasts). The Induction Popcorn Party Kit will be available starting Monday, October 21, and can be reserved at ladpu.com/cooktop-signup.

The following additional departments will have tables set up at the customer service fair: Atomic City Transit, Environmental Services, the County Clerk’s office, Los Alamos Fire Department, the Community Development Department and Human Resources..
