Chocolate & The UNM-LA Bond

Seriously, who doesn’t love chocolate? If chocolate were on the ballot, there’s no question as to whether it would pass. Rich in antioxidants, it can help lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of clotting. It’s a valued asset to our bodies and our culinary delights.

So why discuss chocolate? Well, it does get one’s attention and that’s what we need to remind us that UNM-LA is a valued asset for our students and our community delights! Well, maybe this analogy stops at the fondue table. But in all seriousness, voting YES on the UNM-LA Bonds will support an institution that has, and will continue to, contributed significantly to our educational environment.

If you want to know more about making chocolates, there are endless excellent websites that will walk you through the process. It’s simple and worth the effort. If you want to know more about the UNM-LA Bonds, that’s simple too. Go to losalamos.unm.edu and click the link to Bond info. And supporting the Bonds is simple too! Just vote YES when you go to vote. Simple and definitely worth the effort!

There are two Bonds; the UNM-LA Bond which supports capital improvement projects for the campus, and the Bond-3 (aka GO Bond) which supports statewide education. The beauty of the UNM-LA Bond is that after we pass this bond for $3 million, the State matches that with an additional $9 million, for a total of $12 million in campus improvements! That’s a sweet deal! Those who know me well know that I never kid about my passion for chocolate! Likewise, I never joke about the importance of education.

With Halloween approaching, I do hope that any chocolates that you hand out are of good quality. You’ve got to read the ingredients to know what you’re getting. Likewise, when you VOTE YES on the UNM-LA Bonds, you know what you’re getting; much needed capital improvements to an excellent university that contributes greatly to our educational community!

So, vote YES and do enjoy some chocolate!
