LAPD: Early Morning Two-Vehicle Crash Results In Death Of Los Alamos Man, NM 502 Now Open

LAPD NEWS RELEASE

LAPD would like to inform the public of a fatal crash that occurred early this morning near the intersection of New Mexico 502 and Camino Entrada in Los Alamos.

At 5:15 a.m. September 6, 2024, at about 5:16 a.m., Los Alamos Police responded to a 911
call reporting a two-vehicle accident on NM 502 near the intersection of Camino Entrada.
Officers arrived on scene a few minutes after the call was received. LAFD was also notified and
on scene within minutes of notification and began treating three patients involved in the crash.
Two patients were taken to the Los Alamos Medical Center. A 22-year-old female was treated
for minor injuries. Sadly, a 69-year-old man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced
dead at the Los Alamos Medical Center.

The accident and cause are still under investigation by LAPD’s crash team. At the time of this
media release, the main hill is opened for normal travel into the town site. Additional information will be provided on a later date.

“The Los Alamos Police Department sends our condolences to the families and all those affected by the accident. We ask that all commuters continue to obey traffic safety laws and exercise caution while traveling,” said Deputy Chief James Rodriguez.
