STEP UP GALLERY NEWS RELEASE
An exciting new exhibit from artists Sandra Duran Wilson and Linda Storm opens Aug. 15 in the Step Up Gallery at Mesa Public Library. “Beyond the Threshold: Nature, Myths, Dreams” invites the viewer to “cross over into a world of visionary stories that take you on adventures that each of you will experience uniquely.”
Santa Fe Artist Sandra Duran Wilson is a highly regarded author of six best-selling art technique books for Penguin Random House including “Awakening Your Creative Soul.” Her work has been chosen for many Art in Public Places collections in New Mexico, and is included in many private, corporate, and educational collections worldwide.
Glorieta artist Linda Storm exhibits her art in museums, galleries and public spaces, regionally, nationally, and internationally. Her work is currently featured in Judy Chicago’s “What if Women Ruled the World.” She also creates murals, installations, stage projections, and album covers. For Step Up Gallery, Linda will exhibit paintings that tell of her kinship with nature, music and myths.
She says, “Wonder and possibility are her most important tools.”
Duran Wilson says about their joint exhibit, “Our work is different stylistically, but we tell the same story in different forms. We decided to collaborate on projects and bring our views together. The complex surrealistic work allows the viewer into the dream world and myths, while the abstract painting allows the viewer to imagine their own version of the story.”
The public is invited to attend an opening reception on Saturday, Aug. 17 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The artists will lead a short gallery talk at 2:30 p.m. which will be videotaped and later appear on Step Up Gallery’s YouTube site (www.youtube.com/@stepupgallery1702).
Step Up Gallery (https://stepupgallery.org) is on the top level of Mesa Public Library at 2400
