Los Alamos native Kristen Hemphill (Nichols) has been named to the 2024 Colorado State University (CSU) Athletics Hall Of Fame. Hemphill graduated from Los Alamos High School in 2005 and attended Colorado State University from 2005 through 2010.
Colorado State Athletics announced the 2024 Class for the Hall of Fame on Wednesday, July 24. The class of five spans participation across four programs.
The 2024 Hall of Fame class is comprised of Hemphill (Nichols) of track and field, Deedra Foss (Walker) of volleyball, Garrett Grayson and Rashard Higgins of football and Kenny Hines, a two-sport athlete in wrestling and football.
“We are proud to induct a record-setting group of performers across multiple decades and four programs,” CSU Director of Athletics John Weber said. “This class’s accomplishments elevated their programs and our outstanding university throughout their careers.”
The 2024 Hall of Fame class will be inducted on Oct. 11 at the Ram Good Time Gala, as a part of the Ram Good Time Weekend.
About Kristen Hemphill (Nichols) (Track and Field, 2005-2010): Hemphill is the daughter of Doug and Geralyn Hemphill of Los Alamos and sister to brothers, Daniel, Kevin and Michael Hemphill. She is a 2010 All-American in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Hemphill won three Mountain West championships and was named to two academic All-American teams and two academic all-conference teams during her career. She was named the 2010 Virginia Frank Award winner for best female athlete at CSU. In 2008, she broke the school record in the 3,000 indoor run and the outdoor 3,000 steeplechase; in 2010 she was named the conference athlete of the week April 20, 2010. Hemphill was also a member of the 2008 MW women’s outdoor championship team.
