The Los Alamos County 4-H program has a busy week ahead of us. We started the week setting up the fairgrounds on Sunday, followed by Monday July 29 is the Homemade Delights contest at the Rio Arriba County Fair. 4-H and FFA members from Los Alamos and Rio Arriba County competed in 10 different classes showcasing their Baking skills. The Winners of each class will have the opportunity to create a gift basket of their Baked Goods to sell at the Fair Auction Saturday Aug 3.

Tuesday-Friday our Los Alamos 4-H members along with those of Rio Arriba 4-H and Mesa Vista FFA will be at the Fair Grounds in Abiquiu, showing their animals, where the top animals in each market class will be eligible for the Livestock Auction. The Fair ends Saturday with a day of showcasing all their hard work, the morning starts the Mesa Vista Fundraiser Pancake Breakfast, followed by the Round Robin Showmanship Contest where the top showman from each large animal species compete for the overall title. The night ends with the Livestock and Homemade Delights Auction starting at 5pm.

Our Los Alamos 4-H members will also be exhibiting all of our indoor project exhibits at the Los Alamos County Fair which is open to the public for viewing Aug 2 & 3 in the 3rd floor of the Mesa Library. The 4-H projects on display are competing for the opportunity to represent Los Alamos County at the NM State Fair at Expo NM in September.

The families of Los Alamos 4-H invite everyone out to come out and enjoy either fair, come up to see our livestock, and attend our Showcase and Auction Night on Saturday. Come see what 4-H is and what these kids have been working on this past year.
