This year marks the 70th year of the Rio Arriba County Fair run by the Rio Arriba County Fair Association. This year’s theme, chosen by Adalene Zielie, is “Dancing with the Steers”. The Fair will be held at the Rio Arriba County Rural Events Center near Abiquiu.
Each year, the RACFA plans and produces the Fair with the goal of uniting the community and promoting its assets. It incorporates youth development activities with a focus on Northern New Mexico traditions and the rural way of life within Rio Arriba County, which is treasured so many. The Fair is the place to meet friends from throughout Northern New Mexico, check out the livestock competitions and the indoor exhibits, watch the cultural events, the great food, and of course the goat roping, kids’ rodeo and the pancake breakfast. You never know who you are going to run into!
Volunteers, participants and attendees will tell will how important it is to embrace and sustain the unique traditional rural lifestyle and values of the region that have come down from generation to generation. A day at the Rio Arriba County Fair will increase your hope for the future while providing you with hours of fun and excitement. Check it out!
