As construction moves along steadily at the Rutherford Homes housing development Arkansas Place, many in the community want to know what the homes look like inside as the outsides look so unusual. The community has watched the extensive dirt work involved in setting up the utilities infrastructure for the project and then the slow rise of the first few homes in the development, several of which are ready for viewing by interested parties.
The Los Alamos Reporter recently toured the development with Chevonne Alarid, Construction Project Manager & Sales Director for the Homes by Rutherford development. She said interest in the homes has been strong, with more than 60 people showing up for each of her open houses.
“While our development may appear slow, we are confident that our steady progress will culminate in a high-quality home product for the Los Alamos community. We look forward to bringing this exciting development to fruition,” Alarid said.
She noted that the goal is to complete the entire project in 24 to 36 months. The availability of contractors who are prepared to make the Rutherford homes a priority has slowed down progress as has been the case in many housing developments in Northern New Mexico.
Asked what people like most about the homes, Alarid said they love the interior design.
“They like having a bathroom on every floor, the eight-foot doors, the great storage space, the availability of black doors and white cabinets, and how big the rooms feel,” she said.
Arkansas Place will eventually have 44 single family attached homes on 4.5 acres. Each four-story 3 bedroom, 3.5 bath home has a two-car garage and an open layout that provides an easy connection to the outdoors. The interior is bright and airy with lots of natural light.
