Travis Patrick Zabroski, 40, has been arrested by Los Alamos Police Department and charged with receiving stolen property – a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a controlled substance. He also had an outstanding warrant from another jurisdiction.
A statement of probable cause filed by Det. Michael Weiss in Los Alamos Magistrate Court indicates that LAPD patrol officers “encountered” a stolen vehicle occupied by Zabroski who fled the area but was later found and arrested on the outstanding warrant. The vehicle was sealed and taken to the LAPD Impound Lot.
Det. Weiss said he executed a search warrant on the vehicle where he found “several pieces of foil, several pipes, several sources of ammunition” and a shotgun that had been reported stolen. Weiss said one of the pieces of foil on the driver’s side floorboard contained a blue pill consistent with fentanyl. A review of Zabroski’s records revealed three prior felony convictions. When contacted by LAPD, the owner of the vehicle confirmed that the drugs and the shotgun do not belong to him. No charge appears to have been filed related to the “stolen car” and the LAPD incident report is not yet available for public review.
Magistrate Court records indicate that Zabroski will have his first appearance July 29 before Magistrate Judge Catherine Taylor.
