NMSP Marks Six Months Of Remarkable Achievements In Public Safety

The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) is proud to announce significant accomplishments over the past six months, reflecting the unwavering dedication and hard work of our officers in ensuring the safety and security of New Mexicans.

Key Achievements from January 1, 2024, to June 30, 2024:

  • Arrests: 4,686
  • DWI Arrests: 655
  • Traffic Citations: 82,808 (4,262 for no seatbelt)
  • Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspections: 47,365
  • 234 lbs. of methamphetamine seized
  • 259 lbs. of fentanyl seized
  • 1 gram of fentanyl powder seized
  • 146 lbs. of cocaine seized
  • 80 grams of crack cocaine seized
  • 952 lbs. of marijuana seized
  • 98 recovered stolen vehicles
  • 49 firearms seized (9 stolen)
  • 10 Homicides investigated statewide (9 solved)

These impressive numbers underscore the relentless efforts of the NMSP officers who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe. Their proactive measures have led to the removal of substantial amounts of dangerous drugs and illegal firearms from the streets, ensuring a safer environment for all residents.

New Mexico State Police Chief Troy Weisler commented on the department’s recent successes:

“In these past six months, we have continued to remove significant amounts of dangerous drugs and guns off the streets. Our roadways are also safer due to the high visibility of our officers. We will keep making a positive impact in each and every community of New Mexico.”
