Lloyd and Pamela Rodriguez of Velarde are pleased to announce the engagement of their son Jared Rodriguez to Maria Urzua, daughter of Jorge and Antonia Urzua of Aguascalientes, Mexico.

The groom to be is a 2016 graduate of Los Alamos High School. Following graduation he enlisted into the U.S. Navy as a Gas Turbine Technician FIrst Class stationed on a Navy destroyer in Rota, Spain. His second tour was as an Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) crew member at Assault Craft Unit 5 in Camp Pendleton, CA. He is currently serving his third tour as an LCAC Flight Instructor while also pursuing a degree in welding at Palomar College.

The bride to be is a Registered Nurse in California. Maria graduated from California State University – Channel Islands with a Bachelor of Science degree and a minor in Spanish. She currently works as a Trauma Nurse in a California hospital where she continues to practice this rewarding profession that she loves so much.

The happy couple is planning an August wedding in Northern New Mexico.
