Matthew Levi Trujillo, 25, of Jemez Springs was arrested Monday by Los Alamos Police Department and charged with 10 counts of criminal sexual penetration in the second degree of a child 13-18 years old and 10 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
His first appearance before Los Alamos Magistrate Court Judge Catherine Taylor was held Tuesday afternoon. Trujillo was released on his own recognizance on pretrial conditions of release that included electronic monitoring and not being allowed to enter Los Alamos County.
According to court documents filed June 13 in Magistrate Court by Det.Sgt. Ryan Wolking, LAPD Chief Dino Sgambellone received an email June 6 reporting criminal activity involving Trujillo that alleged Trujillo involved in a sexual relationship with a 16-year old girl and providing her with crack cocaine and alcohol. The reporting party provided Wolking with screenshots of text messages alleged to have been between Trujillo and the girl that had led to these discoveries. Wolking’s report states that from the texts it is clear that Trujillo and the girl were “romantically involved”.
Wolking called the girl’s mother to arrange for an interview with her at LAPD during which the girl reportedly said she had met Trujillo shortly before she turned 15 and had begun being physical with him May 11 of this year. Interviews with the reporting party, the girl and the girl’s mother indicated that the girl had been with Trujillo multiple times in his vehicle, at his residence and at a local motel and that he allegedly had sex with her and provided her with drugs and alcohol on those occasions.
A warrant was issued June 13 for Trujillo’s arrest and he was placed under arrest by Wolking on Monday.
