Do you think there are two genders? How do we know if there are more than just two genders or are there are just two genders?
I believe that there are only 2 genders, and in some cases possibly 3. In the US, most people are assigned a gender at birth according to their biological sex. Men are born with x and y chromosomes and women are born with two x chromosomes. Some people are born with XXY chromosomes, but that is only a small number of people. (Alan)
Even though a professor said that they were atheists, they still believe that people are born man or woman. But that was in the 90’s and human culture has changed and became more accepting. “While pursuing my degree in physical therapy during the 1990s, my professors taught me that human sexuality is binary. Though they weren’t Christians (one said that they were an honest atheist), they taught what they observed to be true from nature. Males have one X and one Y chromosome (XY), while females have two X chromosomes (XX).(Alan).
While Alan Shlemon, an expert in this topic, was pursuing his degree in physical therapy during the 1990s, his professors taught him human sexuality is paired together. Male and Female. Though they weren’t Christians, “they taught what they observed to be true from nature.” (Alan). We also know that there are only two sexes because there are only two possible sex cells, sperm or egg. “According to the Intersex Society of North America (ISNA) only around 0.05% of people are born with ambiguous genitalia, requiring a specialist to intervene. Most intersex people appear and function as either male or female.” “Even the ISNA admits that “the vast majority of people with intersex conditions identify as male or female rather than transgender.” ( ISNA). (Alan).
According to Risa Aria Schnebly “biological sex itself is a spectrum rather than a binary,” and that gender is a way to express yourself. She also states that “a person’s gender identity has to do with their internal sense of their own gender.” This means that someone that doesn’t believe that they are a man or a woman can just change their identity if it makes them feel normal. (Risa).
I think that there are only 2 genders, and in some cases possibly 3. People in the U.S. are assigned a gender determined on their biological sex. 99.95% of people are given their gender at birth, that leads me to believe that there are only 2 genders. As the Bible states in Genesis 1:27, “God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Even a professor at California State University, who was an atheist, teaching about physical therapy, believes that there are only two sexes. I myself am a Christian and I believe that God made humans man or woman. That has been a fact for the last two-thousand years, up until now. But, this has changed now that science has been improving by substantial amounts.

Shlemon, A. (n.d.). Humans come in only two sexes. https://www.str.org/w/humans-come-in-only-two-sexes = 1 Alan I used this source because Alan, who is a renowned expert in this topic, states that “the vast majority of people with intersex conditions identify as male or female rather than transgender.” The Intersex Society of North America stated that quote.
Schnebly,Risa. Biological Sex and Gender in the United States | Embryo Project Encyclopedia. (2022, June 13). https://embryo.asu.edu/pages/biological-sex-and-gender-united-states = 2 Risa I used this source because it states that gender is what someone thinks they are and not what they actually are, this further demonstrates that there are 2 genders.
What’s the difference between being transgender or transsexual and having an intersex condition? | Intersex Society of North America. (n.d.). https://isna.org/faq/transgender/ = 3 ISNA
The reason I used this source was because the author stated that it is rare that someone is born transsexual and also states that “ the vast majority of people with intersex conditions identify as male or female rather than transgender or transsexual.”
