SALA Los Alamos Event Center is excited to announce significant upgrades to enhance the cinematic experience for our community. With the recent investment in a new server installed in the Roxy Theater’s projector, we are now able to offer dual movie screenings and introduce closed caption capabilities, addressing a much-needed community request.

This Week’s Screenings:

• The Roxy Theater:
  • Thursday, Friday, Saturday:
    • 1:00 PM: ‘If’ (with closed captions)
    • 6:00 PM: ‘If’ (without closed captions)
  • Sunday:
    • 2:00 PM: ‘If’ (with closed captions)
• New Reel Screenings:
  • ‘Furiosa Max’:
    • Friday, Saturday:
      • 1:00 PM & 6:00 PM (no subtitles)
    • Sunday:
      • 2:00 PM

These advancements not only allow us to screen more films but also ensure accessibility for all moviegoers. The closed caption feature is currently in the testing phase and is available only through the new server.

Understanding the Industry’s Challenges

The movie theater industry is facing unprecedented changes, with notable closures such as Regal’s recent shutdown of 44 locations. These industry shifts highlight the importance of supporting local theaters like SALALos Alamos. Hollywood studios’ requirements often force us to show films for a minimum of two weeks, limiting our flexibility to offer new films while managing rental events. By scheduling rentals in advance, we can better plan our screenings to offer a diverse selection of movies.
