Emergency-Preparedness Exercise Scheduled For County And Los Alamos National Laboratory On May 22

Los Alamos County and Los Alamos National Laboratory have scheduled a joint emergency preparedness exercise for Wednesday, May 22. The exercise will test the preparedness of the County and Laboratory personnel, and their response in the case of an actual emergency.
 
The exercise will last approximately five hours, beginning at 9 a.m. The event is only an e xercise.While several divisions across the County are participating, no County services or facilities will be impacted, including emergency and public safety services. Likewise, there will be no disruption to Laboratory operations.

Some elements of this exercise may be observable to the public, such as increased emergency vehicle traffic, workers in protective equipment performing simulated activities and “exercise in progress” signage. There is no cause for alarm.

Los Alamos County and the Laboratory’s Emergency Management Division work closely with participating local organizations to keep the community apprised of simulated emergency exercises to ensure the least disruption possible.
