N3B NEWS RELEASE

Newport News Nuclear BWTX Los Alamos (N3B) recently awarded two new small business subcontracts worth up to $36.5 million. The subcontracts were awarded to SAMES Inc. of McAllen, Texas, and HealthWorks Medical of Paducah, Kentucky.

With offices in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, SAMES Inc. will provide building maintenance and general construction services to support N3B operations. The subcontract was awarded through a small business set-aside and is valued at $30 million over about four years. SAMES is a minority-owned, 8(a), small disadvantaged business and certified HUBZone concern. HUBZones are historically underutilized business zones.

HealthWorks Medical will operate an occupational medical clinic for N3B employees. The clinic will be located in the Los Alamos Medical Center, a convenient location for N3B employees to access medical care. The subcontract was awarded through competitive bid and is valued at $6.5 million over about four years. HealthWorks is a small disadvantaged business.

In fiscal year 2023, N3B awarded nearly $290 million in purchases, 80 percent of which went to small businesses. For more information on N3B procurement and small business outreach, visit our website at https://n3b-la.com/procurement/.
