Guy Meyer Named Los Alamos Public Schools Athletic Director

Los Alamos Public Schools has announced that Guy Meyer has accepted the position of Athletic Director. He joined LAPS last August as the Assistant Athletic Director.

“I am thankful to Superintendent [Jennifer] Guy for the opportunity to help lead Topper and Hawk Athletics and very appreciative to Ann Stewart for hiring me in the district last August,” Meyer said. “Los Alamos High School has a rich tradition of athletic excellence led by committed student-athletes and highly devoted coaches and I am thrilled to work with them to help continue that success.”

Meyer’s job duties will include scheduling, hiring personnel, coach/parent/student communications, facilities and custodial, policy development, budgets, fundraising, admin duties, event management and more.

“The department’s purpose will stay the same,” he said. “We will provide a safe environment for athletics and use it as a vehicle for student growth and development. We are excited to be part of the community and look forward to great times ahead here in Los Alamos.”

Meyer holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Fort Lewis College where he played four years of NCAA DII basketball.  He also holds a Master’s degree in Athletic Administration from New Mexico Highlands University.  Meyer, a native New Mexican, has held several college coaching positions in men’s basketball since 2011.  He spent time as the athletic director and assistant athletic director at Cochise College in Southern Arizona.  Prior to coming to Los Alamos, Meyer was the Associate Athletic Director at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo.

He taught two years of elementary P.E. from 2007-2009 at Cesar Chavez Elementary in Santa Fe.

He and his wife reside in Santa Fe. In their spare time, the couple enjoy spending time with family, taking their dog Maci on walks and being outdoors.
