Los Alamos County Parks & Rec Board
At tonight’s meeting starting at 5:30 in Los Alamos County Council Chambers or on Zoom, the Parks & Recreation Board will review, discuss, and possibly approve our FY25 Work Plan. Here’s what it looks like right now:
- Assist the department and Council in implementing the CSD Integrated Master Plan.
- Assist the department with the public input for the CIP projects and Trails and Open Space Management Plan identified to be undertaken in 2024 and 2025.
- Assist the department with the CAPRA accreditation process as needed.
- Provide input on the recreation division’s programs and services, which would include the golf course, aquatics, and ice rink.
- Guide the County and Community Services Department with documents and master plans above (e.g., Integrated Master Plan, Trails and Open Space Management Plan, and ADA Audit and Transition Plan).
- Assist the department and Council in ensuring that programs and services meet the diverse needs of the community in an equitable and inclusive manner.
- Recruitment of PRB members and subcommittee members.
- Work with staff to gather feedback and emerging community needs supported by the Integrated Master Plan and Council Strategic Objectives and serve as a communication conduit with County Council and Staff.
- Support the department’s effort for community engagement by attending public meetings, volunteer days, and events.
Do you share these priorities? Is there anything else that you would like us to consider? Email us at prb@lacnm.us or show up tonight at 5:30 SHARP in Council Chambers (1000 Central Ave) to give public comment.
We must also decide whether to renew subcommittees for another year and if additional subcommittees or task forces should be formed.
- Ice Rink and Recreation Advisory Subcommittee
- Golf Course Advisory Subcommittee
- Open Space Advisory Subcommittee
- Equine & Livestock Advisory Subcommittee
Would you be interested in joining one of these subcommittees? Is there something else that you feel warrants a subcommittee or task force?
Our parks and recreational facilities are our community’s greatest assets, contributing to our well-being and nearly every one of our county’s strategic goals. I implore you to attend tonight’s meeting to participate in the future of your parks and recreation.
