LAPS NEWS RELEASE
The community is invited to attend the 10th annual Multicultural Festival, Around the World in White Rock, starting at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 24 at Chamisa Elementary School.
Presented jointly by Chamisa Elementary and Piñon Elementary Schools, the festival features dance, music, games, crafts and food tastings.
There is still time for presenters to join in the festival. You can create a cultural display which can be interactive with food, crafts, games, trivia, etc., as well as a photographic display of your country/culture, and artifacts. One or two people will need to be present at the display during the fair. Or, if you could do a performance — dance, sing, play instruments from your country. Please email co-coordinator Stephanie Rittner, Piñon Elementary School’s art teacher, at s.rittner@laschools.net. Andrea Lynch, Chamisa Elementary School’s art teacher, is also a co-coordinator.
So far, this year’s festival will feature Brazil, Chile, Korea, France, India, Netherlands, Spain, Ireland, Honduras, and the state of Louisiana.
The event was started by teachers Renee Mitsunaga and Julie Bulthuis as a way to celebrate the diversity of Los Alamos County and the surrounding communities.
This event is free and open to the public.
