The community conversation will focus on helping parents and caregivers learn active listening and validation skills they can use with their children when having conversations.
Small groups will observe local therapists giving examples of conversations that can actually occur between parents and children – including topics that are often difficult for parents to respond to, including sex, self-harming, substance use, and body image. Participants will come away from this event with strategies they can use in real-life situations when talking with their children.
This event is a collaboration between Los Alamos JJAB, Teen Court, the LAPS Prevention Program, Los Alamos Family Council, and Los Alamos County Social Services.
