NMSP Arrests Wanted Fugitive Alfredo Sanchez In Taos

The New Mexico State Police along with Taos County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) and Taos Police Department (TPD) arrested a wanted fugitive who had absconded.

On March 19, 2024, 2024 at approximately 7:00 p.m., NMSP Officers received a tip that Alfredo Sanchez, 39, was seen at Peet’s Coffee Shop/Taos Valley Lodge in Taos. Officers learned that Sanchez was absconding from Adult Probation and Parole (APPO) on original charges of homicide. Officers responded to Peet’s Coffee Shop and located Sanchez’s mother’s vehicle parked in front of one of the rooms of the lodge.

Officers checked with the front desk and learned Sanchez’s wife had checked into the room and provided his New Mexico driver’s license at check in and listed the room under her name but with his driver’s license.

A plan was established to set up a perimeter around Taos Valley Lodge while positive identification of Sanchez was confirmed. Officers observed him standing outside a lodge room. Sanchez attempted to flee inside a room, but officers were able to detain and arrest him. He was booked into Taos Adult Detention Center without further incident.
