SAMIZDAT BOOKSTORE NEWS

In celebration of International Children’s Book Day (Tuesday, April 2), World Book (Tuesday, April 23), and Independent Bookstore Day (Saturday, April 27), Samizdat Bookstore will host A Los Alamos Alphabet–themed coloring contest.

Stop by Samizdat (174 Central Park Square) between April 2 and April 23 to pick up a coloring page inspired by the local children’s book A Los Alamos Alphabet, written by Whitney Spivey and designed by Leslie Bucklin. Choose from 26 different pages (one for each letter of the alphabet). Take your page home, draw something that corresponds to your chosen letter in the Polaroid frame, write your name, age, and contact info on the paper, and return the page to Samizdat by 4 p.m. on April 23.

The contest is open to children and adults—everyone is encouraged to participate. Winners in different categories (TBD) will be revealed during a A Los Alamos Alphabet reading and book signing at 3 p.m. on April 27. Winners will receive prizes from Samizdat. Happy coloring!

A Los Alamos Alphabet was published in October 2023 and is available at Samizdat for $20.
