LAPS NEWS RELEASE
The Los Alamos High School Spring 2024 Esports season is coming to a close. All five LAHS teams have made it to the State Tournament. This is the 5th year that teams from LAHS have competed at the State Level. The teams will begin playoffs after Spring Break. If any teams make it to the Semi-Final Round, they will head to Albuquerque to play in-person April 18-20.
The first playoff match schedule is:
April 2: Splatoon Round of 16
April 10: Smash Bros Quarterfinals
April 11: Mario Kart Quarterfinals
April 11: Rocket League Quarterfinals
April 11 Hearthstone Quarterfinals
All matches start at 4 pm.
Team sponsors include Libbi Lovejoy, Tony Sims, Blake Hovde, Austin Goodbody, Kris Pantanilla and Michael Dolejsi.
Here is a recap of the season:
Splatoon 3 finished their regular season with a record of 9-0 (27-0), and are the Undefeated District Champs, #1 in the 4A Classification. Team members include Kaden Colson, captain; Zane Kretz, Miles Iverson, Ben Stringfellow, Luke Patterson, Ralston Hoffer, Tally Szinger, Neal Sanders, Philip Smith and Maira Finn.
Smash Bros Unlimited finished their Regular Season with a record of 9-0 (54-14), and are the Undefeated District Champs, #1 in the 4A Classification. Team members Include Magenta Bronson, captain; Gabe Cook, Lucas Price, Marshall Brunette, Shaun Kilde, Miles Iverson, Kepler Smith, Jasmine Heft and Alex Southam.
Rocket League finished their Regular Season with a record of 7-2 (22-6), District Champs, #2 in the 4A Classification. Team members include Ryan Peterson, captain; Henry Stidham, Darius Patton, Jacob McRoberts, Max Cannon, Freddy Broyles and Eric Mecham.
Mario Kart is a new team this year, and finished their regular season with a record of 7-2 (14-5), District Runner Up, #3 in the 4A Classification. Team members include Penny Doebling, captain; Fortis Brown, Marshall Brunette, Philip Smith and Joseph Dale.
Hearthstone is also a new team this year, and finished their regular season with a record of 6-3 (22-10), District Runner Up, #4 in the A-4A Classification. Team members include Luke Patterson, captain; Ralston Hoffer, Neal Sanders and Jacob Castro.
