County: Community Development Dept. Welcomes Ellyn Felton As Marketing Specialist

The Los Alamos County Community Development Department is delighted to announce Ellyn Felton as their new Marketing Specialist. Bringing a wealth of experience and a dynamic skill set, Felton’s appointment is poised to elevate the department’s marketing initiatives. In her role she will work with the Lodgers’ Tax Advisory Board, the Los Alamos Commerce & Development Corporation, the Visitor’s Centers, New Mexico Tourism Department, and more.

Dan Ungerleider, Economic Development Administrator, expressed enthusiasm about Felton’s
arrival, stating, “Ellyn brings a unique perspective to the team, as she has experience in
television, radio, higher education, and more. Her knowledge will help us take our marketing
efforts to the next level with more strategic planning.”

Felton expressed her excitement about the opportunity, stating, “Having lived in the area since
September 2022, I feel I have gotten to know the community. I’m looking forward to helping
share what is happening in our department, and highlighting what opportunities Los Alamos
County offers to its residents, as well as those who visit the area.”

Originally from the Midwest, Felton brings a diverse background to her role. She graduated from Wartburg College with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism & Communication and a minor in
Leadership. In 2023, she received a Digital Marketing Certificate from Texas A&M University –
Texarkana. Her professional journey includes roles such as Digital News Producer at KCRG-
TV9, Digital Managing Editor at Townsquare Media, and Communication Specialist at Texas
A&M University’s Faculty Affairs office, among others.

Throughout her career, Felton has demonstrated a commitment to community engagement
through volunteerism, including roles with Count Me In, Young Professionals of Aggieland, and
the Los Alamos Community Foundation.

In addition to her professional pursuits, Felton enjoys outdoor activities, including hiking and
snowshoeing. Her favorite places to spend time are the Guaje Canyon Trail, the Overlook Park
trails, and the Valles Caldera. She also plays saxophone in the Los Alamos Community Winds.
