Take a dive into the amazing world of Astronomy! The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is offering an exciting array of astronomy programs this month. Take a look at this month’s schedule below:
This Friday, February 9, gather in the planetarium for an exploration of the Night Sky in February at 7 pm. Learn which planets, constellations, star clusters, and more are visible as Steve Becker leads a virtual tour of the current night sky. Admission: $8/adult, $6/student.
On Saturday, February 10, cozy up for the full dome planetarium film One Sky Project at 2 pm. One Sky is a collection of beautiful short films about constellations, astronomical instruments, and scientific knowledge from various cultures around the world. Admission: $8/adult, $6/student.
On Friday, February 16, visit the planetarium to marvel at imagery from local photographers during the Astrophotography Showcase at 7 pm. Images will include last October’s eclipse, as well as deep space objects. Admission: $8/adult, $6/student.
On Saturday, February 17, tune in for the Fulldome Film: We are Astronomers at 2 pm. This film reveals the global collaboration, technology and dedication required to answer the unresolved questions of the Universe. We Are Astronomers, narrated by David Tennant is an exciting 360° Fulldome digital planetarium show produced by NSC Creative with input from UK astronomers. Admission: $8/adult, $6/student.
On Friday, February 23, the Los Alamos High School Astronomy Club will present Constellations Across Cultures. This program will take viewers on a journey across the night sky, time, and cultures as they learn about the stories and uses for the constellations that have fascinated and inspired humans for thousands of years. Admission $8/adult, free for students.
On Saturday, February 24, join us for Solar Science Saturday at 10 am, a day of family oriented hands-on activities exploring the sun. 2024 is NASA’s big year, with the IMAP mission launching in 2025. Explore solar studies and IMAP’s observational techniques. Admission: $10/family.
Also on Saturday, February 24, come to the planetarium for the Fulldome Film: Fantastic Fractals at 2 pm. Fantastic Fractals is a spectacular, award-winning fulldome planetarium show that takes viewers on a tour of the fractals in nature and zooms through infinitely complex mathematical fractals. Featuring original music, the show is both educational and highly entertaining, and suitable for audiences ages 4 and up. Admission: $8/adult, $6/student.

PEEC was founded in 2000 to serve the community of Los Alamos. It offers people of all ages a way to enrich their lives by strengthening their connections to our canyons, mesas, mountains, and skies.
