CORO DE CAMERA NEWS RELEASE
Chase away the winter chill with Coro de Cámara and the Joe Cox Band as they perform hot hits from the 1960s to ‘80s by The Beatles, ABBA, Carole King, Motown artists, Cyndi Lauper, and more!
Two Matinee Shows: Saturday, February 17 at 4:00 p.m., Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church, Kelly Hall, 3900 Trinity Drive, Los Alamos | Sunday, February 18 at 4:00 p.m., Paradiso Santa Fe, 903 Early Street, Santa Fe. One Pops ‘Teaser’ Show/Fundraiser with the Los Alamos Arts Council, Friday, February 16 at 7:00 p.m., Fuller Lodge, 2132 Central Avenue, Los Alamos.
If you are a fan of 1960s to ‘80s pop, you will love “Time to… Dance.” You’ll hear such songs as “Let It Be,” “Dancing Queen,” “I Feel the Earth Move,” “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” and “True Colors.” Host ‘Casey Clark,’ aka Coro singer Peter Bloser, counts down Coro’s rendition of the hits in the style of radio/television personalities Casey Kasem of American Top 40 and Dick Clark of American Bandstand. In addition to entertaining and providing details about the pop repertoire, Coro’s host might even show off a few dance moves of his own!
And speaking of dance moves, Artistic Director Nylea Butler-Moore says, “Northern New Mexico is an extraordinary place to experience cultural expression through dance. We are pleased to showcase two unique dance groups in our upcoming performances: the Los Alamos Y Kathak class performing two dances from India at the pops preview show on Friday, February 16; and the Entreflamenco youth dancers of Santa Fe sharing flamenco dances from Spain on Sunday, February 18.”
Coro also welcomes back the versatile Joe Cox Band, an audience favorite from two past Coro jazz programs. Leader Joe Cox rocks the piano and lends his arranging skills and voice to the Elton John medley that he created for “Time to… Dance.” New addition Craig Reingold shares his talents on electric bass and guitar, and drummer John Frary adds spicy rhythms to the ensemble.
Coro’s three-part concert series concludes with “Time to… Love” on May 4 and 5, a program of songs of love including Songstream by American Choral Legend Alice Parker and poet Edna St. Vincent Millay.
